Develop advanced EPC contract management, procurement, and construction oversight skills to improve project delivery, compliance, and contractor performance.
This Engineering Procurement and Construction (EPC) Contract Management course equips professionals with advanced knowledge and practical tools for managing EPC projects, engineering contracts, procurement systems, contractor performance, and construction operations. The program focuses on EPC governance frameworks, procurement planning, contract administration, construction quality management, risk mitigation, claims management, and project closeout processes to support successful infrastructure and industrial project delivery. Participants will gain practical expertise in engineering procurement strategies, contractor coordination, technical compliance, construction scheduling, dispute management, and project performance monitoring aligned with international best practices in EPC project and contract management.
Engineering Procurement and Construction (EPC) projects involve highly integrated technical, financial, procurement, and operational activities that require effective coordination across multiple stakeholders, contractors, suppliers, and project teams. Due to their complexity and high-value nature, EPC projects are exposed to significant risks related to delays, cost overruns, procurement failures, contractual disputes, quality deficiencies, and operational disruptions. Organizations therefore require strong contract management systems and disciplined project oversight to ensure successful project execution and performance.
This professional training course provides participants with advanced competencies in EPC contract administration, procurement governance, construction management, contractor performance monitoring, quality assurance, and dispute resolution. The course emphasizes practical approaches to EPC procurement planning, vendor management, construction supervision, claims administration, risk mitigation, and project closeout to help organizations strengthen governance systems, improve contractor accountability, reduce project risks, and achieve successful infrastructure and industrial project outcomes.

Frequently Asked Questions
Under EPC the contractor takes single-point responsibility for engineering, procurement and construction under one lump-sum, turnkey agreement, whereas design-bid-build splits these across separate parties. That single point of responsibility changes how the owner manages the work, and the course is built around that shift.
EPC transfers most delivery risk to the contractor in exchange for price and schedule certainty, but the owner retains real residual risks around scope definition, change and performance. You learn to identify what risk you have genuinely transferred, and to manage what you still hold.
The owner shifts from directing the work to assuring it, monitoring performance, quality and milestones rather than instructing method. The course covers how to staff and run that oversight role, including the owner's engineer function.
Because the model resists change, the course focuses on the disciplined management of variations, extensions of time and liquidated damages, and on the evidence you need to defend or resist a claim under a lump-sum contract.
EPC dominates power, oil and gas, and large industrial projects, all of which are central to African infrastructure investment. The skills transfer directly to the generation, transmission and industrial projects being built across the continent.
It suits project and contract managers, engineers and procurement staff, and owner's-engineer and project-office teams managing EPC contracts on energy, infrastructure and industrial works.
You will be able to structure and administer EPC contracts, allocate and manage risk, oversee procurement and construction performance, control claims and variations, and drive the contractor through commissioning to taking-over.
It runs as a live online cohort and in person in cities such as Nairobi, Lagos, Accra, Kigali and Dubai, with a Certificate of Completion and post-training support, and can be delivered in-house for project teams across Africa.
