The course begins with identifying and mapping an organisation's FX exposure before moving into the pricing and mechanics of core hedging instruments. Participants then design a hedging policy and examine central bank reserve management and intervention strategy, before finishing with FX risk reporting and the specific considerations of cross-border trade and investment.
The Foreign Exchange Risk Management Training Course is a five-day programme that builds practical FX risk skills for corporate treasurers, bank treasury teams and central bank reserve managers. Currency volatility remains one of the most persistent risks facing African businesses, banks and central banks, and unmanaged FX exposure can quickly erode profitability or reserve positions. Participants leave able to map an organisation's FX exposure, select and price appropriate hedging instruments, design a hedging policy and report FX risk clearly to boards and management.
Currency volatility has intensified across several African markets in recent years, exposing businesses and banks with unmanaged FX positions to sudden and sometimes severe losses. Treasury teams that can identify exposure early and hedge it appropriately protect earnings and reduce the risk of unpleasant surprises reaching the board.
