This five-day course builds practical creative thinking and ideation skills for professionals who need to generate genuine options, not just circle back to the first idea in the room. It covers lateral thinking techniques, structured ideation frameworks, and the facilitation skills needed to run sessions where people actually contribute, not just the most senior or the loudest voice.
Most ideation sessions produce the same handful of ideas the team would have reached without a workshop. Creative thinking is often treated as something people either have or do not have, rather than a skill, and most brainstorming sessions are poorly facilitated, dominated by the same few voices, and converge on the first plausible idea rather than genuinely exploring the option space.
This course treats creative thinking as a learnable discipline with real techniques, not a personality trait or a warm-up exercise before the real meeting. It covers structured ideation frameworks for breaking out of habitual thinking, and the facilitation skills to design and run sessions where a genuine range of ideas actually surfaces, and where quieter or more junior voices get heard alongside senior ones. The exercises and case studies draw on the resource constraints, hierarchical workplace norms and multi-stakeholder environments common across African organisations, since creative thinking techniques that assume unlimited budgets or flat organisational structures often do not translate directly into local working contexts.

Frequently Asked Questions
No, though they complement each other well. That course is a structured, end-to-end methodology for diagnosing a problem and designing a tested solution. This course focuses specifically on the ideation and creative thinking techniques themselves, and how to facilitate sessions where they actually work.
No. The course treats creative thinking as a learnable set of techniques, not a fixed personality trait, and is built for people who do not consider themselves naturally creative.
Both, roughly equally. Several sessions focus on the techniques themselves, and an equal amount focuses on facilitating sessions where those techniques actually produce results.
Yes, and we encourage it. Most exercises are designed to be applied directly to a real, current problem participants bring with them.
Yes. While facilitation is a major theme, several techniques are specifically designed for individual use.
Yes, and it works particularly well that way, since the team can practise facilitating and generating ideas together on a real shared problem.
