This five-day intensive takes participants from a blank workbook to a fully integrated threestatement PPP financial model, complete with sculpted senior debt, a cash waterfall, reserve accounts and a sensitivity and scenario framework, all built around a live infrastructure case study.
Governments across Africa are turning to public-private partnerships to close persistent infrastructure financing gaps, from toll roads and power plants to water utilities and social infrastructure. Yet a PPP only reaches financial close if its financial model can withstand scrutiny from lenders, credit committees and government negotiators, each reading the same workbook for a different weakness. A model that looks reasonable in summary but breaks down under a lender's sensitivity case, or that hides a circular reference a credit committee later exposes, will stall a transaction at the worst possible moment and erode confidence in the wider deal team.
This course is built for the people who build, review or negotiate around these models, whether they sit inside a government PPP unit, a bank's project finance desk or an infrastructure developer's finance team. It is hands-on and Excel-based throughout, moving participants from a blank workbook to a fully integrated, sculpted and stress-tested PPP financial model using a single running case study across the five days. By the close of the programme, participants are not just able to follow someone else's model; they can build, defend and interrogate one of their own.
By the end of this course, participants will be able to:

This programme is delivered through a practical, hands-on approach centred on a single infrastructure project case study that runs throughout the five days. Participants will build and refine financial models in Excel through live facilitator demonstrations, guided modelling exercises and independent practice. Learning is reinforced through peer model reviews, structured problem-solving activities and case-based negotiation simulations drawn from real African PPP and infrastructure transactions, ensuring participants leave with practical skills they can apply immediately.
This training strengthens organisational capability to:
Participants will gain the knowledge and practical skills to:
Practical session: Build the model shell and construction module for the case study project.
Practical session: Build the revenue and operating cost modules and link the three statements.
Practical session: Size senior debt and build the cash waterfall with reserve accounts.
Practical session: Build the returns summary and stress-test the model against three scenarios.
Practical session: Audit a peer's model and present final outputs in a mock financial close negotiation.
At Strategic Revenue Africa, our certification goes beyond proof of attendance—it represents practical competence and measurable capability. Upon successful completion of our training programs, participants are awarded a Certificate of Completion from Strategic Revenue Africa, recognizing their ability to apply acquired knowledge in real-world settings. As an organization focused on architecting sustainable revenue and strengthening organizational performance, our certifications signal that participants are equipped with skills that drive results, not just theory.
Working knowledge of Excel and core corporate finance concepts, including time value of money, IRR and NPV, is expected. Prior modelling experience is useful but not required, as the course rebuilds a model from first principles
